What a microneedle roller actually is
A microneedle roller is a small head covered in very fine points, fixed to a handle, that you roll across clean skin. On the Silka set it sits on top of a bottle of serum, so the serum comes through the head as it moves.
What it is for
The head carries the serum across the surface and leaves it there. A dropper puts serum in your palm and most of it stays in your palm. A cotton pad soaks it up. The roller is a delivery method rather than a treatment, and the reason to use one is that more of what you paid for ends up on your face.
What it is not
It is not a clinical procedure and it is not a substitute for one. Professional needling is a different depth, done by somebody trained, with aftercare. A cosmetic roller of this kind works on the surface, and what it changes is how skin looks and feels.
How often people use one
Nightly, on clean dry skin, is the pattern that suits a light hyaluronic acid and niacinamide serum. It takes about a minute. Consistency does more here than intensity, which is the opposite of how most people approach skincare.
